Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC): Do I Qualify?

The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is a federal tax credit available to individuals of certain income brackets. Low income. It is a refundable credit. What this means is that if you meet the eligibility requirements you can get a tax refund.
1. The Basic Requirements are:

  • You must have earned income of one dollar ($1.00)
  • No one can claim you as a dependent or a qualifying child on his or her income
  • You must be at least 25 years of age or 65 before the end of the year
  • You and your dependents (children) must have a social security number

2. The Other Requirements are:

  • It depends on your filing status
  • It depends if you have a qualifying child or children
  • If you are disable or are a person with disabilities.
  • Members of the Military can claim EITC only on taxable income

Both Earned Income and Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) must be no more than within the chart below
